Expertise of organization

Plant Research International, part of DLO, is a not-for-profit research organisation for strategic and applied research. Through the combination of knowledge and expertise in genetics and reproduction, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, crop protection, crop ecology, and agro-systems, PRI offers a unique scale of perspectives for government and business. PRI operates through the whole agro production chain from DNA-level till concepts for production systems. Activities are performed in different Business Units, specialized in research, scientific publishing and communication. The business unit Biointeractions & Plant Health of PRI has significant experience of EU project management through the coordination of Framework 5, 6 and 7 project consortiums and is an internationally active group in the field of quarantine plant and seed health research. The business unit has participated in many EU and national projects on identification and detection methods related to quarantine and non-quarantine diseases and pests; it routinely carries out research in support of these developments and is a major European contributor for providing representation within the EU. PRI also contains a large plant virus collection.

Role in the project

DLO will lead WP1 (Coordination) and participate in WP2 (Inventory), WP3 (Quality standards), WP4 (Access), WP5 (Info-portal), WP6 (Reference collections) and WP7 (Dissemination).
